Boxcar Greens grows a variety of hyperlocal premium lettuces, herbs and root vegetables year-round to our community.   Our product is fresh and clean and grown in Monroe County IL. No soil, bugs, chemicals, or GMO seeds.  Every day at Boxcar Greens is sunny and warm with perfect humidity.

Vitamins in salad greens, particularly vitamins C and B and phytonutrients that give produce their beautiful colors, are water soluble and can be depleted by commercial processing such as washing, chopping, shipment and prolonged storage.  Boxcar Greens are grown hydroponically, which allows us to harvest with the roots on.  The plants last longer, taste fresher and keep their nutritional value longer.  Why buy store produce that has been picked, packed and shipped from other states losing all nutrient value along the way?  Boxcar Greens moved the farm to Monroe County.   As we like to say, move the farm not the food!
